A
Brief introduction of A Buddhist high lama
|
Lama Shingza Lobsang
Tenzin Choe-Kyi Gyaltsen Phel Sangpo is the reincarnation of Lama
Tsonkapa's mother.
He was born in Eastern Tibet, Province
of Amdo and was the chief head lama of Ra-Gya Monastery, which
has fifty lamas and more than 1900 monks before the invasion from
Chinese. At present there are only 5 lamas and 600 monks back
in Tibet. As there is no religions freedom in Tibet, he fled to
India in order to learn and preserve the rich Buddhist philosophy
and Tibetan Culture.
For the last five years he was studying
at Sera je Monastery in South India and on 15th August,
2001 he successfully graduated on Paramitayana (Perfection of
Wisdom). It was a great honour and well wished by his colleagues
and masses. He still wished to continue his Buddhist studies at
the monastery.

SHERJHE
JADAL
SHINGZA LADANG
An association created to provide aid for new refugee monks
from Tibet
|
We, the monks of Serjhe Jadal Shingza
Ladang, would like to inform you of our situation. We are in need
of your attention, sympathy and support.
As a result of the Chinese occupation
of Tibet, the subsequent disrespect of our religion and the destruction
of approximately five thousand monasteries, thousand of monks
have escaped into India. We are included among those in exile,
struggling with the challenges of a new environment.
By letting you know the situation
that we are facing today, we would like to request your help,
suggestions and inspirations.

Our association of monks, the Serjhe
Jadal Shingsa Ladang, is one among the divisions of our main monastery,
Sera Jhe. Sera Jhe is located in South India and is home to approximately
five thousand monks, we comprise 176 of them. The divisions within
the Monastery are generally determined by the lineages of the
teachers, ours being the lama Shingza Rinpoche, the incarnation
of Lama Tsongkhapa's mother.
Present Lama Shingza Rinpoche's
incarnation was confirmed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1992.
A that times Shingsa Rinpoche was enthroned in his Monastery,
Ragya in East Tibet. As the passed it became increasingly clear
that he could not fulfill his purpose if he remained in his monastery
under the Chinese authority. In 1997, accompanied by many of his
followers, Rinpoche left Tibet for India.

Sera Jhe monastery in South India
has been a refuge for Rinpoche and his followers, where their
have joined the classes and other activities of the monastery.
The monastery gets an annual contribution form the Tibetan Religious
Department and form H.H. the Dalai Lama, as well as from other
great sponsors. However, all of the contributions are not enough
to meet the needs of monks. Thus the divisions are formed to care
for each of their own member's welfare.
Of first and primary importance
for our division was the construction of a home for Rinpoche and
his monks. With the agreement of financial support from his patrons
in Tibet, he initiated construction.
Unfortunately, the funds amounting
to 3,20,000/-. Dhang Yan was intercepted by the Chinese and the
money never arrived for Rinpoche. In order to complete the building
he borrowed money form the main administration of Sera La Jhe.
Finding themselves in debt, Rinpoche and his monks need help.
Has been associated with Serje Shingza
Landang for over five years and has proven his commitment to the
cause of Landang. Therefore he has been assigned the important task
to raise funds for Landang.
All the well wishers are requested
to cooperate in his urgent requirement and donate generously to
the cause of Landang generously through cash or cheque.
